What we know so far!
Community News - Friday, May 4th 2012Hi all, I'm going to post some key features that we know so far within the game!
Zombie Grapple: From our recent interview with the developers, we know you can grab a human through the first person perspective which then grants a third person view of the current action. [Biting the enemy!] We have also been told you have a chance to infect the enemy in case they escape! Here is what Brian Comer had to say about the grapple in case some of you missed:
"It’s primary purpose is to catch those lingering a bit too far from the group and whilst grappled other zombies can claw away at him for a kill but infection is also present in case they escape"
Items: From Early In-Game videos they released we saw a player using a key to open a door, which seems to be a very cool feature. We asked if it can be used on all doors on the map and what its significance will be. Here is what they had to say:
"The keys you saw in the video were there to show you what we are calling “Objective Items” these items take up 1 of your 4 given slots meaning you won’t be able to carry support or offensive items in their place until you drop the item."
Zombies: We know so far that there will be AI zombies in-game as well as player zombies. Brian also mentioned that you as the player can blend in as a zombie! Read more below:
The game consists of AI zombies of differing animations and speeds, player zombies and their abilities, as well as both friendly and unfriendly AI survivors/humans. Player zombies can blend in with AI zombies perfectly forcing survivors to either let them get close, waste ammo in the hopes of snagging a player zombie"Gore: There is going to be a gore system in the game. Will be very interesting to see how they utilize it as many zombies games were kind of the same with regards to the gore.
Some really cool features there! Can’t wait to see more of them in action! Also, don't forget to register and take part in the forums!

Contagion QnA with Brian Comer and Josh Lennen + New Images!
Contagion News - Saturday, April 21st 2012Here you can read all of the interview we had with Brian Comer and Josh Lennen. Also, at the end of it you can view some awesome new images! But please note, they are still WIP [Work in progress]
JoeH04: From the previous in-game videos you have released, we have seen that you can “grapple” a human while you’re a zombie. Can you explain how the grapple actually works? For example, does it take any health away from the opponent or is it ultimately to just “stop” the enemy?
Brian: Being a co-op survival horror game we were eager to take advantage of the “Zombie Grapple” which is so common in movies and the genre overall for the purpose of focusing on the survival portion of the game. It’s primary purpose is to catch those lingering a bit too far from the group and whilst grappled other zombies can claw away at him for a kill but infection is also present in case they escape. That said, all it takes is for a reliable teammate to remove the threat before the ability completes (survivor is bitten) which will save them from the minor damage done, potential infection, and hopefully before a horde can catch up and take the player out. It also has the added benefit of giving the Zombie players an ability that is both strategic and a lot of fun.
Josh: We wanted something strategic for the zombie players and something fun. Like Brian said, catching a lonely straggler off guard is a prime opportunity, but so is barreling out of a horde of zombies and catching a survivor off guard. Trust me, when it happens, you'll jump every time because grapple will require a bit of skill.
JoeH04: In one of the videos, we also saw that a player used a “key” to open a door. Will the player have to find a key for most doors in the given map, or will a key be required for a certain one?
Brian: The keys you saw in the video were there to show you what we are calling “Objective Items” these items take up 1 of your 4 given slots meaning you won’t be able to carry support or offensive items in their place until you drop the item. Some are optional while others are required to move through the map(s). In the video you saw that particular set of keys unlocks 3 doors 2 of which are required to escape but 1 which allows your team to stock up where it’s most needed but is still optional. Expect many more objective as well as support items being added to “Contagon”
Josh: The keys in question may also open your standard liquor cabinet....
JoeH04: The zombies are not your typical slow zombies...
